One of his most famous stories at WGHP included a weekly series in which he helped put people together with unclaimed funds. He was an “Outstanding Consumer Reporter” by the Better Business Bureau while working in North Carolina. Jim left the Big Apple in 1997 to launch an investigative unit at WGHP-TV, a highly regarded Fox TV station based in High Point, North Carolina. Donovan developed his passion for consumer advocacy at CNBC and his work there won him a nomination for National Cable Ace and encouraged him to write reports for NBC’s Today Show. In 1994, as an investigative producer and consumer reporter for “Steals & Deals,” a nightly consumer news show, Donovan made the transition to network television and joined NBC’s cable business network, CNBC. It was there that he made good use of his aviation experience and received his first Emmy Award for an investigative report on the aftermath of an airplane crash. ![]() As a research analyst, he joined WNBC-TV, the NBC flagship station in New York City. When he wasn’t working in the newsroom at the WWOR, he was most likely sitting on a plane flying from London to Tahiti to different destinations. He continued to work as a domestic and international flight attendant for People Express, and later with Continental Airlines after an airline merger. Their work has received accolades from the Better Business Bureau to Associated Press from various organizations. Jim’s on-air responsibilities tend to include the customer beat where he and his staff work to answer thousands of consumer grievances from Delaware Valley viewers.
